Pumpkin Pedal Trail Ride - Special Olympics of Illinois

Nearly 400 riders, of all ages, participated in this year's event. Each cyclist rode one of the 10, 20 or newly added 28 mile routes on the Great Western Trail in western Illinois. All pre-registered riders received a Pumpkin Pedal T-shirt designed by Rex Bohn, a renowned artist from St. Charles, IL.

This year's event raised nearly $12,000 for the Special Olympics Illinois. All of the money raised will be used to support year-round training and competition for the nearly 21,000 athletes with intellectual disabilities and more than 4,000 Young Athletes ages 2-7 with and without intellectual disabilities who are part of the Special Olympics Illinois program. All athletes in the program have the opportunity to train and compete year round in 19 different sporting events. Along with competition, state events may include a dinner, dance and other social or sports activities.
